Maria is CEO of Nephila's Climate business. Maria has spent her career at the intersection of financial and insurance markets and, in this role, brings her passion for building risk transfer markets to the climate sector. Maria joined Nephila in 2015 and has held roles focused on Nephila's cat bond portfolio, raising and retaining capital from global institutional investors, as well as other strategic initiatives for the firm. In 2020, she took on her current role as CEO of Nephila's Climate strategy and broadened the opportunity beyond parametric weather products.

She began her career at Swiss Re Capital Markets, working in New York and London structuring, selling and trading catastrophe bonds in the early years of the asset class. Prior to joining Nephila, she was portfolio manager for insurance-linked investments at SCOR Investment Partners in Paris.

Maria is a graduate of The George Washington University in Washington, DC where she studied International Business and Information Systems.
